If you’ve ever visited a dentist, you probably know that you should be brushing your pearly whites every day for two minutes at a time. You may also understand that you should schedules appointments with us twice a year. Lastly, you might know that flossing your pearly whites should be an important part of your oral care, but do you know why?

As you might already know, keeping your pearly whites clean is important for your oral health. If you don’t, you could actually have to deal with tooth decay and cavities. Still, are you aware that you might have tooth decay or cavities anywhere on your teeth? This means that not cleaning a part of your smile might cause many problems. This is one reason you should floss regularly. Furthermore, if you try to clean certain parts of your pearly whites with your toothbrush, you could hurt your gums. Luckily, if you floss, you can remove plaque from these areas.

Naturally, you should floss with the correct technique if you’re interested in keeping your teeth healthy. For example, are you aware that you should sanitize your hands before you start to floss? Similarly, you should pull your floss up and down and not side to side or you might cut your gums. While you might think flossing hard is actually great for your oral health, you should actually floss gently. If you don’t, you might damage or cut your gums. Finally, please remember to use a clean section of your floss each time you start to clean a different tooth.
