If you notice any signs indicating issues and problems with your gums, it could be linked to underlying conditions such as gum tissue infection. If a gum tissue infection has occurred, it means you will be suffering from what is known as gum disease, also referred to as periodontal disease.

One of the earliest stages of gum disease is known as gingivitis. Gingivitis is still very dangerous and needs to be treated as soon as possible. If you are noticing any symptoms with a downturn in your oral health, begin to inspect your gum tissue. Excessive redness and swelling accompanied by bleeding gums or frequent bad breath are all known symptoms of gingivitis.

There are several risk factors that can increase your risk of gingivitis. If you routinely smoke or chew tobacco, or use medications that can produce dry mouth, you will be at an increased risk for gingivitis. Furthermore, genetic predispositions, the presence of diabetes, and a pregnancy can all increase your risk for the disease. In addition, poor oral hygiene routines in which you are not brushing and flossing your teeth daily will also drastically increase your risk.
