If you have any missing teeth, Dr. Lawrence Wu is pleased to offer a way to restore your smile to its full potential: dental bridges. Dental bridges utilize prosthetic teeth that are cemented into your mouth by attaching to the teeth that are adjacent to them. There are three main kinds of bridges that Dr. Lawrence Wu may use:

— Traditional Bridge: These are the most used variety of bridge. When preparing for traditional bridge treatment, some of the tooth enamel on both sides of the gap is detached to make room for the crowns that will sit upon them.

Our dentist will use a preformed mold to place into your mouth. The mold consists of two crowns and a one or more pontic teeth. The crowns are pieces that are cemented over your existing teeth to complete them, while the pontic teeth are the teeth between the two crowns. Pontics are formed in a solid line to make a bridge from one crowned tooth to the other.

— Maryland Bridge: Maryland bridge treatment is a more conservative approach to tooth replacement. Metal frames are attached to the back of the adjacent teeth so there is no need to remove any enamel. The frames are then attached to a bridge between the teeth. This technique is sometimes insecure and the bridge can fall out with impact or decay because it relies on a cement to hold into the tooth.

— Implant Supported Bridge: This technique can be used when there are three or more missing teeth. Titanium bars are attached to the jaw on both sides of the gap. The teeth are cemented to this metal and the pontic teeth are attached in between these teeth.
